Firm becomes Instructor Training Organisation

DfT grants BikeRight! ITO status

Manchester-based BikeRight! has been given official Government recognition as an Instructor Training Organisation (ITO).

The Department for Transport named the firm a recognised ITO for Bikeability training. Anyone wishing to become a National Standards Instructor Trainer, Instructor or Assistant Instructor has to attend an ITO-run training course.

The ITO status commits the body to annual CPD training to help maintain quality and consistency of training.

“The ITO recognition process has taken lots of hard work from our instructor team,” said BikeRight! MD Liz Clarke. “We are really pleased to be given this backing by the DfT and are looking forward to working with them, doing our bit to ensure that Bikeability remains the core initiative in encouraging participation in cycling.

“This is just the start. Becoming an ITO means much more than meeting the criteria now as all ITOs will be audited and reassessed on a regular basis to ensure quality of training and adherence to the National Standards for Cycle Training.”

Bikeright! has been training National Standards instructors for years, with over 1,200 people.
