According to the Associated Press, residents of Boulder City are to be asked to vote on a plan to make every man, woman and child there a millionaire.
It’s probable there would be a high electoral turn-out and, similar to the Edinburgh congestion charge vote that asked Edinburgh residents whether they wanted a new tax, the results of the poll would hardly be in doubt.
The plan is for Boulder City to sell 167 square miles of open land to developers. A vote on the measure could be held in November. The ballot measure would require the city to distribute the billions of dollars raised in the sale to the 15,000 residents of Boulder City.
"But it’s too late to move there," qualifies the report from the Associated Press. "Only people who lived in Boulder City as of March 31 would qualify."
However, city officials said they intend to fight the forced land sale initiative in court.
