The comic has got a great Tour of Britain supplement stitched inside. This has maps, team features, jersey graphics and a brilliant eyebrows-pinched pic of UCI president Hein Verbruggen.

Going to the Tour of Britain? Buy Cycling Weekly

In a foreword, the UCI president says the Tour of Britain "may one day join the UCI ProTour."

One day? Next year, surely?

The 48-page pull-out is packed with ads from the Tour’s backers such as Canon, the regional development agencies, Transport for London, and T-Mobile.

There’s a fab double-page spread ad from the phone company "doing our bit to support the next wave of Olympic cyclists."

The spread includes a wonky stat, though. T-Mobile claims 5 million bikes are sold per year in the UK. It’s much closer to 3 million. But, hey, with cycling getting ever increasing promotional backing from well-known household brands perhaps 5 million could be on the cards in a year or two…?
