In a foreword, the UCI president says the Tour of Britain "may one day join the UCI ProTour."
One day? Next year, surely?
The 48-page pull-out is packed with ads from the Tour’s backers such as Canon, the regional development agencies, Transport for London, and T-Mobile.
There’s a fab double-page spread ad from the phone company "doing our bit to support the next wave of Olympic cyclists."
The spread includes a wonky stat, though. T-Mobile claims 5 million bikes are sold per year in the UK. It’s much closer to 3 million. But, hey, with cycling getting ever increasing promotional backing from well-known household brands perhaps 5 million could be on the cards in a year or two…?
