Family business to cease trading this month

Holdsworth Cycles to shut after 86 years

Putney bike shop Holdsworth Cycles (WF Holdsworth) is closing.

The shop first opened 86 years ago in 1927 and will be shutting its doors at the end of this month.

The road bike-centric family business was started by William Frank ‘Sandy’ Holdsworth, who opened the shop at 132 Lower Richmond Road.

In a message posted on Facebook, the bike shop said: "It is with the greatest regret that I have to announce that after 86 years of serving Putney and it’s residents (and the wider world) with all of their cycling needs, the difficult decision has been taken to close our doors for the last time at the end of October.

"We thank you for your custom and interest, and hope to see you out on the road."
