Hope Technology’s Simon Sharp passes away

BikeBiz is very sad to announce the death of Hope Technology’s co-founder Simon Sharp on the 4th of July 2016.

Leaving behind wife Alison and three children, Sam, Katherine, and Heather, his thirty-year legacy at Hope will be fondly remembered. An accomplished motorcycle trials rider as well as a competitive mountain biker, Sharp influenced every product in Hope’s portfolio, including the disc brakes for which Hope first became known. Over the course of his riding career, he suffered several concussions; there is some speculation as to whether this may have led to his untimely passing away.

The company notes his daily presence in the factory, "keeping his watchful eye over all Hope’s product development, quietly working in the background, never seeking attention. Every weekend he could be found either riding mountain bikes or trials bikes with his children and members of the Hope staff around the local Dales or further afield.

"Everyone riding a Hope product has a part influenced by Simon Sharp, and will do for many years to come."
