We know from emails that a lot of industry big-wigs are accessing this site on a daily basis. We are also getting plenty of hits from America, Taiwan, Canada and Holland. Some Australian trade people are also getting a daily dose of Brit bike news (yes, we send BikeBiz to Oz, too!)
704 different people have visited so far which will steadily increase as bike shop folk get on the web and as we ramp up the promotional effort in the print version of BikeBiz.
Weve had 14 000 page accesses so far and nearly 80 percent of site visitors have checked out the bulletin board. This means weve got a lot of readers but not that many writers because there have only been six or seven individual posters so far. (More needed: come on, this is the unedited, open forum part of the site so get posting).
We cant monitor how many people have used the live chat room but its probably a tiny amount. However, in America, using such chat rooms is a common business practice, one step down from full-blown video conferencing. Once the site is a good few months older and is accessed by the majority of online IBDs and suppliers the chat room will come into its own as a key communication tool. To demonstrate what it can do we may set up a time for everybody to join in live and then release an exclusive bit of news that wont get put on the site anywhere else.
However, not everybody can gain access to www.bikebiz.co.uk. 176 people have so far failed to get the password right!
