BEN COOPER FROM KINETICS OF GLASGOW REPORTS FROM THE KOLN SHOW:
Eurobike was a storming show, with 24 000 trade visitors but IFMA isn’t dead yet. One exhibitor explained it like this:
"We don’t like the situation, but we have to go to both German shows – Eurobike is the best, but no-one from the North goes to it, so we have to come to Koln to meet the Dutch and the British."
The halls are far from empty – IFMA likes its reputation as the show where serious ordering business is done, and the suits are all in evidence. The smaller show is also better in some ways – easier to find friends, and easier to talk to exhibitors too.
The real question for IFMA is how many people will go to Eurobike instead next year?
It’s obviously a subject on the minds of the organisers – people with clipboards are wandering the halls, asking that exact question.
