Is your bike shop on the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire route?

Welcome to Yorkshire has revealed the route details for spring’s Tour de Yorkshire, the second edition of the race born from the Grand Depart in 2014.

If your bike shop or bike business is in Middlesbrough, Scarborough, Settle, Otley, Beverley or Doncaster then there may be a local cycle interest boost headed your way – research has shown that this year’s Yorkshire Tour saw millions spent by spectators locally.

STAGE 1 on Friday 29th April will start in Beverley and finish in Settle – 185km
After Stage One begins in Beverley, the peloton races onto Tadcaster and then Knaresborough (where some of the biggest crowds were for Le Tour in 2014). Taking in some of that Grand Départ 2014 route, a series of climbs takes the riders past Brimham Rocks before a finish in Settle.

STAGE 2 on Saturday 30th April will start in Otley and finish in Doncaster – 135.5km
On Stage Two, men and women will face exactly the same stage which starts in Otley. From Otley riders travel south towards Conisbrough Castle and then Doncaster.

STAGE 3 on Sunday 1st May will start in Middlesbrough and finish in Scarborough – 198km
Stage Three starts in Middlesbrough, then into Herriot Country before tackling Sutton Bank, the first of six King of the Mountain points in one stage. Riders then head over the North York Moors and down towards Scarborough.
