Kona Bicycle unit sales are up 25 per cent and value of sales is close to 40 per cent up on the same period last year. Paligap's turnover for the first quarter has also increased by 40 per cent.

The distributor has recently moved into a new premises, including sales office, showroom workshop, service centre and a new customs warehouse which houses the Kona, Litespeed, Merlin and Quintana Roo bicycle ranges. Previously Paligap used a third party warehouse. The new in-house facility gives the firm the ability to process orders more efficiently and reduce running costs.

Kona Bicycles has seen growth in the predicted commuter and road platforms.

Ben Gaby, marketing manager at Paligap told BikeBiz: "Slightly more surprisingly, mountain bike sales are up on last year's. The introduction of a new suspension platform has also bucked the trend for slow high-end MTB sales as the Cadabra range is close to being sold out for 2010."

To continue providing our dealers with high service levels, Paligap has also recruited a new internal sales person, who will start in January. The distributor will also be looking to recruit more internal staff as the year progresses.
