The Outdoor Industries Association is staging its last GO Outdoors show this weekend. There's been a Harrogate trade show in the autumn since the 1960s but "to meet the changing buying patterns of brands and retailers" next year the show becomes outdoorpreview and will be held in July.

Last chance to go to an Autumn outdoor trade show

The first outdoorpreview was held in July and next year is the only OIA trade show.

The Autumn Harrogate trade show for the UK outdoor sector – tents, sleeping bags, fleeces, base layers, jackets, compasses and the rest – was formerly known as the COLA show when the OIA was known as the Camping and Outdoor Leisure Association.

A statement from OIA said: "The UK outdoor sector is in something of a state of flux and, in addressing this, 2006 will see an amalgamation of our two events into a single unified show to be called outdoorpreview, which will be held in Harrogate in July."

This year’s GO Outdoors show will be staged 25-27th September.

Show organiser Roger Southcott said: "We are living in a time-poor society and in many ways, this is why trade exhibitions work. If youÂ’re running a retail outlet, you need to be progressive, adaptable, knowledgeable, a salesperson, marketer, merchandiser and adviser. In fact, almost all things to all people. Given these demands where is the time for you to see whatÂ’s new in the market place, for you to meet with industry colleagues, for you to compare many brands across many disciplines at one time?"

The answer, of course, is this weekend’s show. Zyro has a stand and there are other ‘cross-over’ companies too.
