Double Olympic champion Laura Trott will have her name on a hybrid and three road bikes.

Laura Trott makes her marque with Halfords

Apollo and Carerra might be the bread-and-butter marques from Halfords but the sales floor is increasingly stocked with bikes branded with the names of racers. Laura Trott is the latest to get an own-name branded bike range, and she joins Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Boardman and Victoria Pendleton. (The Hoy range is stocked in Evans Cycles.)

The Laura Trott womens’ range will be available from July and comprises a hybrid and three road bikes. The range kicks off at £449 retail.

Trott said: “Riding bikes is my life, so it’s been a dream for me to develop my own. I want to see as many women and girls as possible to get out there on bikes."

While in general the UK market for bikes is currently sluggish at best, the womens’ market is on the up, a trend Halfords is aiming to benefit from.

Halfords relatively new CEO Jill McDonald has charged  commercial director Emma Fox with increasing the number of womens’ bikes in-store at Halfords.
