The new course has been developed as an introduction to the existing full range of CyTech courses and is available to candidates from both the trade and public, with ACT members receiving discounts on the course costs.
The CyTech Induction course covers workshop skills in areas such as Health & Safety, British Standards, workshop practices and pre-delivery inspection as well as an overview on consumer legislation.
"The course is designed to give more people the opportunity to develop their skills whilst also establishing recognised standards of practice within the cycle trade," said the ACT’s marketing manager Mark Brown.
"By creating a distance learning module we are giving more people the opportunity to benefit from accreditation against the CyTech standard which can only be a positive step in terms of having staff who are better qualified working to recognised standards.
"We also believe this new course gives more mechanics and their employers the opportunity to realise the full benefits of training and accreditation in terms of business development and career progression.”
The CyTech Induction course can be completed within one week but candidates can have up to six months within which to return the course and gain CyTech accreditation. The distance learning module incorporates various multiple choice theory questions on the key workshop skill areas. Candidates can also complete a practical test to upgrade to the full CyTech 1 qualification having successfully passed the distance learning module.
The course costs £95.00 + VAT for ACT members and £115 + VAT for non-members.
