Tim Jackson, brand manager at Masi of California, has started a bike trade blog site, joining existing bloggers such as ex-journo Zap Espinoza of Trek, Ben Cooper of Kinetics, and Andrea Casalotti of Workbike.org. Even Lance Armstrong's bicycle has a blog site...

Masiguy is bike trade’s latest blogger

Tim Jackson, a Masters track racer, is the face (and hands and legs) of Masi. His blog is a chance to chronicle his thoughts and experiences as he pursues his dream of “heading a bike company.”

Masi is the road bike brand owned by Haro, the BMX company.

"I am a life-long, dyed in the wool jersey bicycle geek," admits Jackson.

"I am now living out a dream as the brand manager of the bike I lusted after since I was 12 years old. If you ever saw the movie Breaking Away, then you probably recognize the name Masi as the bike ridden by the movie’s hero Dave.

“I have been reading and hearing so much about blogging for a long time and had been considering it myself, so I finally took the plunge,” said Jackson.

Jackson went live on March 4th and has been trying to stay faithful to daily updating, stating “even for a word-geek like me, it’s hard to find something to say every day, but I’m trying.”

Blogging is not a passing fad, believes Jackon.

"I really believe that this kind of thing is really critical to my efforts and goals for the bikes I get to sell.”

Why read blogs? For insider info that leaves even never-knowingly-scooped BikeBiz.com looking tardy. For instance, Jackson is close to signing up with many distributors around the world, including in the UK.

He writes: "Masi World Domination is completely underway and we will be out stealing floor space from ‘other brands. Insert sinister, maniacal laugh and creepy wringing of hands…"
