MTB World Cup finals at Fort Bill seeks volunteers

From Friday 9th September to Sunday 11th September, Fort William in the Scottish Highlands will host the finals of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, a first for the UK.

Rare Management, organisers of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup events at Fort William, are now looking for up to 200 volunteers to work on an event which will see 450 riders from more than 35 countries taking part. 20 000 spectators are expected over the three days.

Volunteer departments include course marshals, parking and traffic control, signage and course installations, admin, media and VIP support, World Cup Village security, drivers and merchandise sales.

Karen Weir from Rare Management said: "Volunteering at the World Cup is hard work, but it’s also a great fun experience and many of our volunteers come back year after year."

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, must be prepared to work long hours whatever the weather conditions and must be able to commit to a minimum of two days

In return volunteers receive ‘goody bags’ including several items of branded clothing, nvitations to event parties, food vouchers, daily expenses allowance of £30 per day or B&B in shared hostel-type accommodation plus £40 travel expenses.
