Digby Jones, 44, will take over as director general of the Confederation of British Industry in January. He succeeds Adair Turner.
Birmingham-born Mr Jones is currently vice-chairman of corporate finance at KPMG and is chairman of the CBI's West Midlands region.
The CBI director general before Adair Turner was also a cyclist (he subsequently left to be second in command at the bank of England). Does it make a jot of difference whether such people are cyclists? Does it help the 'cause' at all? Answers on the bulletin board please...
