Trailers, that is. Simon Gershon of Orbit Cycles is seeking to pass on the distribution rights to beast-of-burden (BoB) trailers as well as the trailers from Monz, Leggero and Bykaboose.

New home sought for Bob

"I’ve decided that I no longer want to distribute trailers," said Gershon.

"Although trailer sales have never taken off in the UK, we have a steady turnover, selling about 800 units p.a. There is good sales growth potential with increasing family and urban cycling, and the multiples currently have no commitment to either child or luggage trailers.

"I think that consumers and the bike trade would be better served if another wholesaler took over Orbit’s portfolio of brands, and stock. I am not looking for a premium for the distribution rights.

As a company, Orbit cycles has a limited product range and only does significant

business with Orbit bike dealers. I can’t justify a rep, and as a result we do not have

any great exposure to other IBDs. I know that if there were more trailers in shops,

significant sales would result."
