Nottingham is to host a ‘Carnival of Cycling‘ as part of Bike Week on Saturday June 18th.
Hosted at Byron House at the Nottingham Trent University, the carnival has been orgnaised by Sustrans’ backed Ucycle – the city’s initiative to achieve greater cycling levels alongside the City Council, Hospitals Trust and the university buildings.
The entertainment list is diverse, with Rollapaluza rigs being one of the highlights. There will also be stunt displays, music ‘made from bike parts’ and fun with pedal-powered stereos. Local bike shops are also set to be involved, meaning attendees will have access to bike checks and maintenance classes.
For those looking to take part in the Great Nott’s Bike Ride, pre-registration will also be available from the second day of the event, Sunday June 19th.
Andrew Parkinson, Sustrans’ Ucycle project officer, says “Whether you are a seasoned cyclist, someone wanting to try it out or just a family looking for a fun day together – there is something for everyone. The carnival is about showing how fun and enjoyable cycling can be and how easy it is to get started. By trying it out, cycling can open up a whole new way to enjoy our region and make the most of the summer months in the fresh air."
