Bikebiz looks at product hitting the market this month from Teva, Velo, Mio, Rock Shox, BikeCave and Leyzne

October new product round up

Teva ‘The Links’ shoe
Direct: 0207 0162200

With riders like Sam Pilgrim on its books, Teva needed a shoe to survive travelling to the harshest terrains and ripping down mountains – that’s where the revamped Links shoe came from.
Just by looking at it you can tell the £89.99 shoe is made of tough stuff. Using the same highly rated PedalLinks outsole as on the prior model, the shoe has been beefed up with waterproof upper materials, a shock pad in the heel to take those big hits and a breathable rubberised grid over the toe area that’s said to be highly tear resistant.
Those are just a few of the highlights though, as you may not notice attention to detail features such as a minimalistic design on the crank side of the shoe to avoid catching, while the padding around the ankle more than protects the rider should they take a knock. A tough plastic is wrapped around the heel to firm up the rear and provide further protection. Sound like it’ll be uncomfortable? Well, Teva has imported its Mush Infused Insole into the shoe to bring about the same level of comfort as found on its flip flops.

BikeCave
Direct: 01525 382938

Cycle storage firm BikeCave made its debut appearance at The Cycle Show last month.
Designed to keep a fleet of bikes away from the elements and a life of slow corrosion, BikeCave has now launched the Xtra BCX – a tent with zipable modules, meaning you can accommodate as many as your space allows.
The BikeCave range is manufactured from a clever Polyester and Polyurethane fabric. It’s tough, hard-wearing and easy to clean. This fabric combined with the flexible fibre-glass rod framework, has been selected to provide a lightweight storage solution that will bend in strong winds, rather than break. The firm also offers a security device to work with its flagship product, dubbed Anka Point, allowing you to lock bikes to a wall while keeping them covered.
