The cost of Ordnance Survey produced digital maps has been slashed by around 90 per cent.

This move means that outdoor enthusiasts will be able to save their favourite maps for PC, iPhone, iPad or Android devices, with detailed maps now costing just a tenth of the price.

Ray Badminton, managing director of Memory-Map, the UK company that started the digital mapping revolution in 2001, commented: "This is great news for everyone who loves the outdoors. We've discussed this for years with OS and now at last we'll be able to pass on these huge OS cost reductions to all our customers. All the Explorer maps for Great Britain would have cost around £2,500 - now with these new costs and our new 2014 product range launched today it's just £250.00."
