OSCARS: Triplets de Belleville bested by Finding Nemo

It’s no big surprise that Finding Nemo romped home with the honours. It’s a funny film, gloriously CGIed by a bunch of Apple Macs. Quirky films like Belleville don’t even usually get nominated so well done for Sylvian Chomet for getting as far as he did with his film.

And if the film was quirky, the music was quirkier. It’s unlikely many of the 5000+ Oscar judges actually listened to the Belleville song nominated for ‘best original song’ – instead they ticked the Annie Lennox Lord of the Rings song. Great film, but do you remember the song? ‘Course not.

According to News24, the South Africa newspaper, this year’s Oscars bash was predictably "boring". What was the best bit?

"The night’s liveliest segment was a stylish production number of best-song nominee "Belleville Rendezvous" from The Triplets of Belleville, which included one man playing a bicycle." A Giant cruiser…
