Along with its sister charity Railway Paths Ltd, Sustrans owns 1100 bridges on the 10 000-mile National Cycle Network. These cost £120 000 a year to maintain. Get your name on a bridge plaque in your local area by ponying up a one-off donation to Sustrans' 'bridging the gap' fund.

Pledge bike bridge cash, be named on plaque

Commemorative plaques will be placed on selected bridges throughout the UK.

Those who donate to the ‘bridging the gap’ fund before the end of December will have their names engraved on a plaque which will be placed on a Sustrans-owned bridge in the locality.

The plaque will read:

This plaque celebrates Sustrans opening the furst 10 000 miles of the National Cycle Network in 2005, and acknowledges the many Sustrans Supporters who helped in its creation. The people listed below are Supporters from this area who have made a special donation to help with maintenance of the 1100 bridges that are part of the National Cycle Network.
