When the A591 in Cumbria is rebuilt it should be upgraded with a cycleway, says the owner of Keswick Bikes. The road was badly damaged in recent flooding caused by Storm Desmond.
Amos Doron suggested that including a cycleway alongside the stretch of washed-away road at Dunmail Raise would be a "lasting legacy."
"This could be a perfect opportunity to create a lasting legacy out of the heartache and suffering that has been caused by Storm Desmond for the people of Cumbria and beyond," said Doron.
He added: "I am certain that you would find an enormous groundswell of support with this idea in the way it helps to symbollically connect the Southern and Northern Lakes after such a catastrophic event."
