Petition on number10.gov aimed at driving bans for those who use mobiles at the wheel

Road Peace calls for ‘mobile menace’ ban

Road Peace members Alan Ramsay and Brian Tadman have submitted a petition at Number10.gov calling for those caught using a mobile phone at the wheel of a car to be banned from driving.

Ramsay is a keen advocate of cyclists rights to safe road usage and has had articles published in several newspapers, both local and national, as well as within Cycling Weekly and having clocked up air time on GMTV.

The reaction time of a texting driver is slowed by around 35 per cent. What’s more, studies show the reaction rate to be nearly three times worse than when under the influence of alcohol. (12 per cent slower)

The deadline to sign is March 23rd 2010.
