Weldtite's sales director Hamish Stewart famously opened up a whole new market for his company's wares when he took the plunge and visited a Russian trade show. That was some years ago when the market for bicycles in the former Soviet Union was still in its infancy. Now, Moscow has the Moscow International Bicycle Tradeshow and, in its second year, has appointed a service agency to drum up new exhibitors and boost visitor numbers.

Russian trade show wants more international visitors

Velo-Park, the Moscow International Bicycle Tradeshow, has appointed inMotion mar.com of Germany as its new sales and service agency.

"The one and only bicycle tradeshow in Russia plans to expand its’ international reach and customer service and aims to become the gateway to Russia for the international bicycle industry," said Uwe Weissflog, general manager of inMotion mar.com based in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, Germany.

InMotion will be responsible for servicing new and existing accounts throughout Europe, the USA and Asia.

"With [Weissflog’s] insight and experience in the global bicycle market he will be a valuable addition to our team," said Dina Bratsberg, Velo-Park show manager.

Weissflog, who has been Interbike’s European representative since 2004, has provided marketing communication services to companies such as CamelBak, Dahon and Knog.

“The Russian bicycle consumer market, still in its early development offers great sales potential to international

companies in the near future- and those companies that are present now can faster capitalize on the investment,"

said Weissflog.
