New web shop specialises in fashionable bike accessory brands

Saddle & Spoke launches stylish cycling retail site

Online retail site Saddle & Spoke has launched to the public, designed to bring together stylish cycling accessories from new and upcoming brands around the world.

Featuring products from the UK, USA, Germany and Japan, Saddle & Spoke was created by design and cycle enthusiast Claire Armstrong, who founded the site in the summer and has a background in the design industry.

Armstrong told BikeBiz: “I came up with the idea in the summer this year whilst trawling the web to find new and upcoming labels with exciting cycling accessories for myself.

“I quickly realised that there are a lot of amazing small labels and brands out there with new and exciting product ideas with a history and passion for both design and cycling. I then thought, wouldn’t it be a good idea to bring them all together on one site to sell to the stylish urban cyclist?”

From that point Armstrong contacted a number of suppliers and four months later launched the site stocks an initial product range from the likes of Cleverhood, Quarterre, Flux Productions, Cardiff, Cyclephant, Crane, Belle Helmets, Rydesafe and C.neeon.

“I’m in the process of confirming the next injection of new brands to the site which will be online in the New Year. So far I’ve had very positive feedback not only from customers but potential suppliers who have contacted me through the site wanting to sell their products on the site.”

The site’s philosophy states ‘We believe cycling isn’t just about getting from a-to-b, it’s about about enhancing your lifestyle, having fun and looking good while doing it’.

Commenting on the trend for stylish and fashionable cycling, Armstrong told BikeBiz: “There has been a massive surge and increase in this trend and it’s great to see people generating new brands and products that cater for the stylish urban cyclist.

“Whether it’s a small UK-based hand built bike brand launching their own clothing range, or a new and upcoming bicycle accessories brand collaborating with a fashion label.

“I think we are just seeing the beginnings of what could be, and it’s great to see an increase in online blogs, websites, magazines, radio programmes and events in the UK that help to promote the urban cycle culture and style. saddleandspoke.co.uk will continue to be at the forefront of providing new brands and products that are tailored to the stylish urban cyclist.”
