100-mile and 65-mile rides launched for 2012 show; entries open today

Scottish Bike Show launches Sportive

The follow up to this year’s inaugural Scottish Bike Show will include a sportive, to be staged in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park on Sunday April 15th 2012.

The extended consumer show itself will run from Friday April 13th to Sunday 15th, returning to the SECC, Glasgow.

The Scottish Bike Show Sportive will offer two routes – a 100-mile sportive ride and a 65-mile challenge ride. Both will be fully signed, marshalled and will test all round biking skills and fitness levels. Tough climbs and fast decents are promised throughout.

Magdala Media’s Rowan Mackie, organiser of The Scottish Bike Show, said: “We are really excited about the Scottish Bike Show Sportive and the prospect of showcasing the stunning hills, glens and lochs of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park to the UK’s cycling community.

“We have two fantastic routes for the inaugural event. The rides are challenging, particularly at the start and I am sure they will make for a fitting start to the Sportive season in 2012. I hope The Scottish Bike Show Sportive become a firm favourite on the UK’s annual sportive calendar.”

Online entries for the sportive open today.
