Shimano's cycle component sales grew 10 percent in 2002

Shimano Group turnover in bicycle components for 2002 totalled €756.3m compared to €686m the year before.

Bicycle-related sales accounted for 70 percent of Shimano's total turnover of €1078m. Shimano also makes fishing reels and rods; golf clubs; snowboard boots and bindings; and car engine components.

Shimano's ordinary profit increased by nearly 50 percent to €150m with after-tax profit increasing 43 percent to €64.5m.

As can be seen from the Excel file available from the link below, Shimano's projected sales for 2003 show that the Japanese manufacturer expects a less than 2 percent growth in bicycle related sales.
