Last year Campbell raised over £320 000 for Leukaemia Research by running the Flora London Marathon.
Armstrong is one of Campbell’s sporting heroes (" I had read the books, seen the films, got the replica cycling shirt. With my family, I had gone to Paris last year to watch him coming down the Champs Elysées to collect his fifth Tour de France title,") and the journalist-turned-spindoctor-turned-journalist wrote a warm piece in The Times.
"I have met many so-called famous people; Armstrong is the first I have gone to meet carrying strict instructions from all three of my children to come back with his autograph."
Campbell collected the shoe from Armstrong’s home in Northern Spain. To place a bid, email cgilman@lrf.org.uk
