Popular app adds Instagram compatibility, one touch kudos and comments and more

Strava ramps up social media interactivity

Popular cycling workout app Strava has upgraded its functionality to be more interactive, adding Instagram compatibility and one touch comment/kudos.

The redesigned app now combines both the running and cycling apps into one bundle, which features an improved activity feed that sits more inline with other popular social network apps.

On Strava’s premium version, riders will receive real time notifications, including audible alerts about segment start, mid and end points.

Now available to UK users, riders and runners can also now choose to display photos taken during an activity through the Instagram app on their feed. Over one million photos are said to have been shared already in overseas territories that have had access since January 2013.

Strava ios now available for iPhone and Android in 11 languages following the addition of Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese.

Version 4.0 is now available in the app store and on Google play. A premium membership, which offers more in depth analysis of an athlete’s ride, is available from $6 a month or $59 a year.
