Product designer Mark Sanders of MAS-Design Products designed the Strida triangular-framed belt-drive bicycle 20+ years ago. It has been made and distributed by Ming Cycle of Taiwan since 2001. The bike is sold in 30 countries worldwide and has been through many versions over the years.

"The Strida has improved almost beyond recognition since I designed it for a master’s thesis over 20 years ago," said Sanders.

The bicycle was originally inspired by Mclaren’s baby buggy which folds quickly to become a 'wheeled stick'.

The latest Strida has disc brakes as standard and there's a cable-less 3 speed geared version.

The Strida starts at £499 for the 16” 5-spoked wheel ‘LT’ and rises to £899 for the new, cable-less 3 speed ‘EVO’.

Ming Cycle owns the IP rights for the Strida.

"Strida was not intended to supplant the excellent compact and fold-in-half, traditional folding bikes, but to offer a simple alternative with its own unique benefits, as a contemporary product," said Sanders, who has designed other bicycle products, such as Pacific-Cycles’ iF-Mode.
