Sugru, the magic putty that cures to a rubbery form, is to be stocked in Halfords.

Sugru becomes available in Halfords; still available dealer direct

Sugru, the mouldable self-adhesive silicone putty that cures to a rubberery form, will be available in Halfords from 18th May. It is already available to independent dealers direct from Sugru, a Hackney-based company started by Irish scientist and entrepreneur Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh in 2010.

The product – which can be formed to make repairs and create fixing on bikes – was named ‘Best DIY Product 2015’ by the British Hardware Federation. Sugru forms a strong – but removable – bond to aluminium, steel, ceramics, glass, wood and other materials including some plastics and rubbers.

“Sugru is the ultimate insurance for any on or off-road adventure,” says Sugru sales director for UK and Europe, Tom Lewington. ““It’s now sold in over 160 countries worldwide and we see brilliant outdoor applications time and time again. A ripped bike saddle, a loose and noisy bike light, a GPS device that simply won’t stay mounted to a handlebar – all solved with a mini pack of Sugru.

Halfords Buyer Lucy Moore comments: “Sugru is a truly unique product that’s fun and easy to use. It’s going to be a real hit with our customers who love to get their hands on clever products designed to improve a range of experiences when out and about.”

A three-pack of Sugru in either all black or mixed colour retails for £6.99.

Until the appointment of a UK cycle wholesaler IBDs can purchase direct from Sugru – resellers@sugru.com.
