The English Tourism Council is expecting 2.6m micro-holidays to be taken in England over the next four days, resulting in spending of about £40m. Some of this cash will be spent at cycle hire centres as holidaymakers rediscover their love for two wheels.

Sunny Easter kickstarts UK leisure cycling

The weather forecast for the UK looks like the curate’s (Easter) egg – good in parts. Friday and Saturday will be bright and sunny. It’ll be cloudier on Sunday and there’s the chance of rain on Monday.

Most cycle hire centres say that good weather over an Easter weekend can boost awareness for cycling year-round. And fair-weather cyclists dig their bikes out from sheds, leading to accessory sales for the bike trade.

Of course, last year Easter was a bit of a wash-out in most of the UK because of foot-and-mouth access restrictions.

Please give us all a snapshot of your 2002 Easter sales or hires on the bulletin board.
