Sustrans’ launches new Routes2Ride website

Sustrans’ has launched a new Routes2Ride website, which covers Scotland.
This website is the first of its kind developed by the charity.

Routes2Ride is a community website where registered members can share their experiences of cycling in Scotland, add their own favourite bike rides and post comments on routes currently on the site. Rides are categorised into challenging, moderate, easy and suitable for families and by location to help users find a route which best suits their ability. Each ride has a dedicated page with a brief description of the route, distance, time required, surface, route number, start and finish points, access, map with points of interest clearly marked – and even a four-day weather forecast!

John Lauder, Sustrans’ National Director for Scotland, is keen for people to get involved with the new website. He said: “Routes2Ride is a really user-friendly website which has been developed specifically for people to share their experiences of cycling in Scotland and find new rides to try out. We have over 1,800 miles of National Cycle Network in Scotland, and lots of local and regional routes, and the new website will help people get out in the fresh air and explore them.

Minister for Transport Infrastructure and Climate Change Stewart Stevenson said: “I welcome the launch of this new website which will highlight the best cycling routes through our wonderful Scottish countryside. Hopefully more people will benefit from getting on their bikes and enjoying a healthy day out in the fresh air.”
