Sustrans produce Safe Routes to School Teachers Pack

Sustrans’ new Safe Routes to School Teacher’s Resource Pack is designed to instil awareness of how school transport issues relate to important areas in the National Curriculum such as geography, citizenship, design and technology.

It can also assist schools working with local authorities to formulate school travel plans and trying to solve problems such as congestion around school gates.

The pack reflects recommendations of the Sustainable Development Education Panel that teachers place emphasis on sustainability throughout the National Curriculum and recent government announcements on road safety training taking place in schools.

At the press launch with Adam Hart-Davis of BBC2’s Local Heroes, the science-for-the-masses programme, there will be a consumer test of various types of bicycles. This is based on one of the activities featured in the design section of the Resource pack.
