'Spiran' bike's lock attaches to lamp post, fence or locks the front wheel

Swedish concept bike integrates lock in front basket

Swedish Industrial Design agency People People has produced a concept bike which is a sleeker version of a Swedish classic.

‘Spiran’ is an update on the Kronan – which in turn was "designed like the traditional Swedish military bikes". The Spiran puts a city-spin on the design which is sleeker, takes inspiration from old Swedish delivery bikes and includes an integrated bike lock.

Damning carrying bike locks on bars or over the shoulder as ‘clumsy’, the design agency instead has the integrated bike lock fold out from the front basket, locking the bike in the front wheel or around a lamp post, fence or similar.

There are no plans to put the bike into production as yet. There are plenty more details at People People’s site
