TIATRA president confirms date is to go under review

Taipei cycle show 2009 to be moved?

Cycle press were told during a conference in Taipei today, that the date for the 2009 Taipei cycle show is under review following concern that the unofficial dates (16th-19th march) fall too late in the year for IBD’s and buyers looking to reform business.

TIATRA (Taiwan external trade development council) vice president, Walter Yeh told press: “It is possible the event could be scheduled in January or February, but we will base our decision on feedback from the Bicycle Association. The decision should be made early next year.

Yeh went on to say: “This years move to the, under construction, Nangang venue was first met with some hesitance by industry people, however, I am now receiving some very positive feedback as the venue is much bigger than ever before.

The booths at the March 13th-16th trade show go for approximately one quarter of the price of those elsewhere around Asia, according to Yeh. As a result of this, exhibitor numbers are alredy predicted to be very high, while visitor numbers are estimated to be ‘in excess of 40,000 over the three days’ said Jeffrey Hong of TIATRA.
