On Monday we carried a story on the Universal acquisation of Muddy Fox. Here are are a few more details

The Muddy Fox sale: part two

Universal Cycles Plc has acquired everything associated with Muddy Fox Ltd including the Muddy Fox and Silver Fox cycle brands, and Big Foot and Fred Salmon accessory brands.

Stock has already been moved into Universals warehouse and product will be "made available exclusively to the IBD market as soon as a full inventory has been completed," said Jeremy Robinson of Universal.

A new range will be introduced in September.

"The existing UK dealer network will be strengthened and will now benefit from the field sales and telesales support offered by Universal, not to mention the market leading after sales and technical support available from the staff based at the Basildon Head Office," said Robinson.

"Plans for the European distributor network will be finalised once discussions have taken place with the existing agents and their requirements are better understood."

The Muddy Fox team will be retained.

Universal MD Gavin Markscheffel said: "The Muddy Fox brand has a tremendous history within racing circles and it is natural to want to build on this. It is a great way of reminding everybody of just how good the cycles are and underlining the benefits race testing and development bring."

"Being the largest distributor in the UK we have wanted to move up to the higher end of the cycle market and there is no better brand and product to have in terms of appeal, quality and potential."
