Sylvain Chomet's Belleville Rendezvous was premiered this year at Cannes and released in Britain in September. It has already won a slew of awards and is tipped for an Oscar nomination in January.
TV guide critics are plugging the film as one of the 'must sees' of the Christmas period, traditionally the peak viewing season of the year.
The exploding frogs scene is the funniest thing you'll see on TV this year, said one critic.
The bicycle scenes were animated in 2D and then were enhanced with 3D effects, including spinning spokes.
Set in the 1950s, and with a fabulous score, you don't have to be a cycle racing fan to enjoy the movie but you'll be in second heaven watching the Tour de France scenes. And anybody who has ever been rubbed by a soigneur will love the massage scene.
