Car manufacturer joins up with Britain’s largest professional cycle race

Tour of Britain equips with hybrids

SweetSpot, organisers of The Tour of Britain, has inked a deal with Honda (UK) which sees the company become the Official Car Partner for the UK’s biggest stage race, which is taking place from the 12th to the 19th September.

The Tour of Britain organisational team will use Honda cars for routing, planning and marketing trips. In addition, the organisation will receive a fleet of around 40 more Honda Civics, CR-Vs and Insights to be used on the race.

Tour of Britain’s Commercial Manager, Alastair Grant said: “Cycling by its very nature is a green, environmentally-friendly sport and mode of transport, and the official race cars provided by Honda will be a mix of both British-manufactured and petrol-electric hybrid vehicles, which has great synergy with our aspirations for the race and its environmental credentials.

"This partnership with Honda is also testament to the fact that The Tour of Britain is an ideal platform for brands wishing to align themselves with Britain’s best Olympic sport, while also addressing their corporate social responsibility needs.

"

Ken Keir, Managing Director, Honda (UK) said: “The Tour of Britain is a fantastic opportunity, the majority of our race support cars are built in Britain and all are low emission, so what better shop window could we have than the huge crowds drawn to this amazing countywide spectacle?"

The Tour of Britain 2009 begins in Yorkshire on Saturday 12th September and finishes eight days later in the centre of London on Saturday 19th September.
