It's a big weekend for UK cycle events

UK’s ‘first closed road Gran Fondo’ launches this weekend

It’s going to be a busy weekend for UK cycle events, with the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and BUFF 4X Pro Tour at Fort William, the Jupiter London Nocturne and – for the first time – the Tour of Cambridgeshire.

Incorporating an expo amongst its attractions, the Enervit-backed Tour is being pitched as the UK’s first true fully closed road Gran Fondo and Time Trial event. The 28km time trial runs on Saturday, while the 128km Gran Fondo runs on Sunday.

Sealskinz is among the companies getting behind of the Tour in a sponsorship deal that will see the company providing prizes and branding on number boards and course.

Sealskinz head of marketing, David Richards said: Our products are seen as critical kit for both road riders and mountain bikers. As an innovator we are really pleased to be getting involved in the Enervit Tour of Cambridgeshire as we are sure this event is going to grow to become a major date, not only in the UK cycling calendar, but also on a European and even global level.”

The organiser behind Tour of Cambridge organisers added: "We are very pleased to have such an innovative UK company in Sealskinz partner with us for the UK’s first real closed road gran fondo and time trial events. They, like us, are innovators in the cycling world and we’re looking forward to growing with them to make a unique and world class product."
