Wheelbase hails biggest Big Demo Weekend yet

Wheelbase of Staveley, Cumbria held its largest Big MTB Demo weekend yet at the weekend, with the biggest number of riders the event has seen with virtually all rides full.

300 people pre-booked rides on the dedicated site www.bigdemoweekend.co.uk and enjoyed a guided ride by www.cycleactive.com in the Kentmere Valley, above the store.

Wheelbase said that the weekend proved that mountain biking is back on the up with 27.5 and 29er wheel sizes having "really invigorated the market".

"There are some stunning mountain bikes on the market now, with performance like we have never seen before," enthused Wheelbase director Toby Dalton.

The Big Demo had 120 mountain bikes on hand from Intense, Yeti, Turner, Lapierre, Kona, Cube, Trek, Whyte, Cannondale, and Genesis. P&A brands taking part included CamelBak, Bell Sports, Giro, Troy Lee Designs, Shimano and GoPro and Gore Bike Wear. 

Big Demo weekend stats include: Ten guides, 20 store staff, 6 mechanics and 800 bike washes. The Big Demo coincides with Wheelbase’s neighbours Hawkshead Brewery and their Spring Beer Festival – www.hawksheadbrewery.co.uk.

The WHEELBASE BIG DEMO WEEKEND will be back on 12 & 13 March 2016.
