Yippee, we're on the 'Oscars' shortlist!

In 2000, Bikebiz.co.uk came joint second with BBC.co.uk in the European Online Journalism Awards, beaten only by Dowjones.com. It has just been announced that BikeBiz is on the shortlist for the 2002 Periodical Publishers Association Awards for editorial and publishing excellence. Comedian Stephen Fry will announce the winners at a gala dinner on 8th May.

Forty-two publishers today made it to 'Oscars' shortlist, most of them top names in the publishing industry including the publishers of Vogue, GQ and Cosmopolitan. Joining the 'big boys' at London's Grosvenor House on 8th May will be lil' ol Front Page Creations, publisher of BicycleBusiness and bikebiz.co.uk.

The PPA awards are now in their 22nd year and are the 'Oscars' of UK publishing.

Bikebiz.co.uk is shortlisted for the Interactive Magazine of the Year (Business and Professional) category. The other sites shortlisted are ajplus.co.uk (Emap Construct); doctorjob.com (GTI Specialist Publishers); egi.co.uk (Reed Business Information) and

shots.net (Emap Media).

Nick Mazur, PPA deputy chief executive, said: "The breadth and variety on this year's shortlist demonstrates just how vibrant [the publishing] industry is. With almost 800 entries this year, the judges had a tough time whittling them down to the cream of the crop, which this shortlist represents."
