York show wins trade backing

Rave quotes from show exhibitors can be found on the Try-out Show website. Here’s a typical one from IBD Andy Shrimpton of Cycle Heaven in York (who is also the ACT’s new Cytech co-ordinator:

"The Try out Show was the best cycle show I’ve ever been to. Running a business day in and day out, even a cycle shop, can get one down from time to time. Coming to an event like the try out show reminds one what it’s all for – why we are in this game. It was fantastic. I met some great people from all over the world – visionaries, business hard-heads, complete loonies, the awkward squad, kids, cycling celebrities, you name it. The event was a perfect balance of the the commercial, the political and the obsessive. What I particularly loved was the nonchalance with which people rode their bikes indoors and out with a complete absence of minders, bouncers and little Hitlers telling us to get off! There were all these kids on baby recumbents crashing into you all the time and no one got hurt – complete anarchy in the best sense of the word! Marvellous! When are we doing it again, and how about a massive parade/critical mass right through the centre of town next time – on the Saturday morning?"
