Ribble Cycles launches disc version of the Aero 883

Ribble Cycles has today revealed a new disc brake version of the popular Aero 883 model.

The new bike has had a complete design overhaul to reduce drag, whist a Kamm Tail-shaped seat tube, down tube and an integrated seat clamp are now built into the frame.

The disc-equipped frame can accommodate the latest direct-mount disc brake calipers to offer the best stopping power possible. The rigorously tested aerodynamic tube profiles of the Aero 883 Disc also serve to place the rear wheel behind the partially curved seat tube to create a shorter wheelbase.

The specially shaped aero head tube features integrated shrouds to direct air-flow around its base whilst the shorter top tube means riders can easily fit a pair of tri-bars to give them a lower position for aerodynamics.

The specific blend of high-end T1000 and T800 unidirectional carbon composites ensure that the frame is both light and stiff, whilst retaining handling characteristics.

The Aero 883 was developed in association with Performance Engineered Solutions of Sheffield. The company’s core skills were developed in both the Formula 1 and MotoGP motorsport environments.

Product and brand director James Dove said: “The Aero 883 Disc is a super-fast bike that now comes with added stopping power. We’ve worked with aerodynamic experts to launch an award-winning bike, and we’re now offering the option with the latest direct mount disc brake calipers, offering the best stopping power possible. The 883’s short top tube and head tube mean that it’s perfect for aggressive road riding, culminating in a lower aerodynamic front position.”

The Aero 883 Disc is available from £1,599 with the recommended spec featuring a Shimano Ultegra Hydraulic groupset, a Mavic Pro Carbon Disc wheelset and a Deda Zero 100 finishing kit priced at £2,899.
