Firm to provide cycle to work scheme for manufacturer

Rolls-Royce signs Cyclescheme

Cycle to work provider Cyclescheme has added Rolls-Royce to its growing portfolio.

The retail value of the Rolls-Royce scheme equates to £1.16 million, delivering 1,659 bike packages at a £700 average.

Rolls-Royce gave its employees the chance to select a bike package from May 25th to June 19th, placing information on intranet sites and sending global emails to its staff. Cyclescheme created 6,000 leaflets and 1,000 posters to publicise the scheme and worked with bike shops to organise road shows, enabling Rolls-Royce employees to view cycle equipment.

Cycleschemes appointment was the product of months of planning, said Cyclescheme director Richard Grigsby: “We worked hard to win the Rolls Royce contract knowing it would be a great scheme for our partner cycle retailers.

“After a year of planning we were looking forward to a successful scheme delivering 500 bikes. When we had 141 on the first day we knew this would be a special scheme and so it turned out. We trebled our usual participation and were thrilled to help deliver smoothly and efficiently the biggest bike scheme the UK has ever seen.”

228 independent bicycle shops delivered the bike packages including Samways Cycles (Derby), Specialized Concept Store, (Bristol), Dales Cycles, (Glasgow) and Leisure Lakes (Nottingham), amongst others.

Through the scheme Samways Cycles saw £148k worth of bikes go to Rolls-Royce employees. Store manager Andy Baines said:

“In general Cyclescheme keeps us very busy, bringing new business to the store which we would not normally have had. In the current economic climate this has helped our business. As we only had a two month window to supply all these bikes to the participating Rolls Royce employees this made us extremely busy at this time. It was a very successful scheme for us.”

Cyclescheme already handles schemes with Asda, Glaxo Smithkline, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, IBM, Centrica and Barclays.
