Former general manager of Scott USA joins DealerCamp organiser as chairman and investor.

Scott Montgomery jumps aboard Lifeboat

Lifeboat Events, producer of PressCamp, DealerCamp and new event Urban PressCamp, have secured the services of Scott Montgomery. The former Cannondale and Scott exec is also investing some of his own cash in the business.

Montgomery joins the company full-time as company chairman, working on strategic direction, expanding the Lifeboat Events brand outside North America, and other day-to- day growth issues.

Montgomery – who left Scott USA late last year – is said to have made a "substantial financial investment" in Lifeboat Events, a business founded by former Interbike organiser Lance Camisasca.

Montgomery said:

"I have enjoyed long working relationships with Lifeboat partners Camisasca and Christopher Zigmont and have been researching new opportunities since leaving Scott Sports in the Fall. This team has great depth and possibilities.

“I participated in both PressCamp and DealerCamp in 2009 and 2010, and I have respected Lance for many years. I recognize there is a big need for more alternative events to serve the cycling community both here and throughout the world. I believe that the team Lance has put together is going to change the status quo and, having grown brands for many years on three continents, I feel that this opportunity could have a big impact on the future of our industry."

Camisasca, president of Lifeboat Events, said:

"People have been responding so well to what we’re offering that we have been a little worried about our ability to handle our growth. Scott is coming along at the right time. It was great to work with Scott as a client because he quickly understood our approach. Now that Scott is part of the crew, we’re much better equipped to master our objectives."
