Following its second successful Kickstarter campaign the latest LED light from See.Sense is now available from bike shops. The Icon is the second and latest version of the "intelligent" LED light from the Belfast-based company. The Kickstarter campaign raised over £80,231 from 934 backers in October.
The lights went out to Kickstarter backers last week and now – just in time for Christmas – they are available in some bike shops.
The "connected" features offered by Icon – such as crash detection and theft alerts – mean that Icon is a year-round product for bike shops, said Philip McAleese, CEO and co-founder of See.Sese.
"Icon’s connectivity means we can continually evolve and improve the software, adding new features based on demand. The group of beta-backers from Kickstarter have signed up to help us further refine the software. Their feedback will be incorporated into future updates that can be made available to all users by firmware over the air updates, and application updates."
Like the first LED from See.Sense the Icon uses a patent-pending intelligent sensor to tell if a cyclist is approaching an intersection, a roundabout, riding in and out of traffic, or entering a tunnel. In these scenarios the light will shine brighter and flash faster. The rechargeable Icon now has an on/off button rather than a shake-to-turn-on feature, and gives over 15 hours run-time.
The first See.Sense light was funded via Kickstarter in November 2013, raising £33,826 from over 500 backers.
