Shimano to open new distribution center in Lyon

Shimano has announced plans to open a new distribution center in Lyon, France.

The business hub will vastly improve Shimano’s service in France and Italy, whilst bolstering brand’s presence in mainland Europe.

With the opening of the Lyon warehouse, Shimano aims to increase delivery times for customers purchasing parts and accessories from brands including PRO, Pearl Izumi clothing and Lazer helmets.

The new shipping and logistics base will be located close to the city of Lyon in southeast France. It will be the third distribution center on the continent, with other facilities currently operating in both Nunspeet in the Netherlands, and Poznan in Poland. A smaller stock and distribution facility also operates in Istanbul, which caters specifically to the Turkish market.

Aad Ramondt, the director of Shimano’s supply chain, said: “With the continued growth of Shimano in Europe and our dedication to providing customers with the best possible service, we aim to accelerate business in France and Italy with a new distribution center.

“By establishing ourselves in the area we will be closer to customers, enabling us to offer faster deliveries and allowing us to be more responsive to the local demands of bicycle consumers. This move reinforces our commitment to the growth of Shimano in France and Italy. Furthermore, this supports our overarching mission to help millions of cycling enthusiasts enjoy nature and the world around them. We are delighted to choose Lyon for this purpose.”
