Mobile workshop rebrands and boosts services

SlickDog aims to be a rider’s best friend

Mobile workshop Revolution Cycleworks has been renamed as SlickDog and developed its offering to cycle consumers.

The Tunbridge Wells-area business has signed up as an Argon 18 dealer and is offering a wider range of services – meaning it now has a workshop, while still offering the benefits of a mobile workshop.

Matt Evans told BikeBiz: “All this is building towards an operation that is more than just a guy in a van who fixes punctures and indexes Tourney-equipped hybrids. We aim to offer a range of servicing, repairing, upgrading and building options that is on a par with the best that a local bike shop can offer, and while this means that much of what we do is now workshop-based rather than mobile, we still offer the convenience of a mobile service by always offering to collect and deliver the bike at the customer’s convenience."

And the reason behind the name change? “Because there are a million and one bicycle-related businesses that use plays on the word revolution, we wanted to choose something totally original,” Evans explained. “And because we believe our whole approach to being a mobile workshop is a departure from how such businesses are often perceived and operated, we wanted a name that was suitably unusual.

"We’ll be maintaining the main feature that differentiates us, even from most IBDs – personal service for all our customers. While initially it’s the convenience aspect of our service that attracts many people, we find that what keeps them coming back is the fact that they know exactly who will be working on their bike – that knowledge is something that’s highly valued.
