Retailer branches into product manufacture with local firm

Somerset IBD launches body-care products for cyclists

Live2ride – a bike dealer based in Frome, Somerset – has launched a range of body-care products aimed at keeping keen cyclists in good physical shape for the road.

The retailer tasked Great Elm Physick Garden – a local producer of hand-made, home-grown organic herbal skin and body care – to produce the bespoke and exclusive range.

The Live2ride salves and soaks features three products in the line-up: Muscle Heat is a warming wax featuring a mix of hot ginger and chilli in herb-infused sunflower seed oil and pain-absorbing galbanum and clove; Gluteus Maximus – a soothing chamois salve blended from chickweed, chamomile and marigold in skin-friendly sunflower and beeswax; and finally Muscle Relief – a bath soak featuring wintergreen, ginger, rosemary and lavendar.

Live2ride’s director Richard Evans commented: “We are constantly looking to improve our offer to cyclists, whether it’s about bikes or bodies, and the presence nearby of such a top body care concern as Great Elm made this range an obvious and exciting fit for us. I’ve only been using them a couple of days myself and already my wheels are turning with new ease and zest!”

Liv O’Hanlon, Great Elm director, added: “This has been a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate to new users the rich power and amazing properties of nature. I’m thinking of buying a bike myself just to use them!”

Live2ride opened in Frome in November 2008.
